Amposta has been out of sorts for some time due to clear water and drifting weed, which makes the fishing really difficult. Today has seen a welcome return to form with mild over cast weather leading to something of a feeding spree. 5 cats were caught by Den Colnet and Dave Turner today, 97, 89, 68, 65 & 38lbs. Pictured is Dennis with the biggest of the day at 97lb which accepted a 3lb mullet live bait free roaming centre channel.

What a morning on the Delta, just an hour after Snowy’s 129 a ‘zombie’ mullet was smashed down by this incredible fish of 163lb. The monster cat put up a feisty mid channel battle with lightning quick runs against a tightly set clutch! The captor, Chris Hull aka Staman has been visiting the Ebro for 15 years and this beauty represents a personal best for the experienced London based angler.

Snowy picked up where he left off last night with a new Personal best of 129lb caught early is today’s session. The fish accepted a mullet fished in the margins and put up a spectacular tussle before being boated, at one stage charging back up the edge towards the boat before tail slapping violently on the top as we reversed away from the danger zone.

Strong easterly winds with over cast conditions have encouraged the cats to return to feeding, and on a day of missed takes and lost fish it was a relief to finally boat this Delta catfish of 92lb. The fish was caught by Ebro new comer Ian ‘Snowy’ Pickford on his first day on the river at around 6pm. The take came close to the reeds well down in the Delta on a mullet.

Regular visitor Mark Wilkinson bagged a new personal best of 132lb with this stunner caught from the Delta section of the Ebro. The fish improves Mark’s Personal best by a single pound after his 131 caught with us back in March this year. The fish smashed down a mullet drifting tight against a marginal weed bed and put up a mammoth tussle before submitting to the Chester based rod.

Welsh brothers John and Tony Barry enjoyed a successful return to the Ebro today with a 125lber from Deltebre. The duo, who fished with us last October and caught 2 140lb+ cats, added to their impressive tally of Ebro monsters with Tony snaring the big one on a margin drift fishing with mullet. The guys declined the opportunity for a photograph, preferring to remain slime free!

Some overcast conditions have finally got the cats looking to feed again, and the biggest fish of the day fell to Dan Withers at 79lb. The fish took a large mullet fished in shallow water close to weed and hammered the float under with some force. Manchester based Dan was delighted with his new PB.

The big fish have been off the feed for a number of weeks due to a combination of very clear water conditions combined with bright, sunny conditions. This 105 lber for first time visitor Steve Parker was very welcome, taking a mullet live bait fished up against the marginal weedbeds. The fish represents a personal best for the well travelled angler.

Some overcast conditions today and a great result late in the session for Ebro new comer Wayne Russell with this Delta giant of 123lbs. The fish was caught on a mullet presented tight in the margin and is a personal best for the london based angler. With the river fishing pretty tough at the moment fish like these are very welcome indeed!
