2018 season kicks off with capture of 179lb brute!!

The 2018 season has got off to a great start with the first monster Catfish showing up in the first few days of fishing. This behemoth fish of 179lb picked up a legered Chicken carcass which had been positioned just underneath an over hanging bush in a slack water pool around the ‘Titchin’s snags’ area upstream of Amposta. After a positive take we were able to guide the fish away from the danger area before a long and dogged fight ensued in the mid channel, while drifting in a fast flow. The delighted captor was Darren Struthers, and this huge fish is his first ever in excess of 3 figures. The river is currently in nice condition, with a heavy flow of cool, coloured water making it’s way down from the North.
