Following on from his 100lber in the morning Shaun Cannings could scarcely believe his luck when the float shot under again later in the afternoon and he found himself battling it out with this whacker of 153lb. The fish was located in one of our favoured deep holes and put up a fearsome battle before coming to the glove.

After a difficult few days on the Ebro with blistering heat and long hot days which have resulted in a drop off in the catch rate, it was a relief to get back into the bigger fish today. Here is Shaun Cannings with a 100lber from the ‘big cat alley’ drift at Amposta. The fish gave a bizarre take, barely taking the float under the water and swimming immediately to the boat, before ‘kicking off’!

Adrian Callum entered the ‘100 club’ on his first ever session on the Ebro with this mighty 110 lb specimen from the Amposta section of the river, caught on the at present elusive mullet. 2 smaller fish in the 60’s and 30’s completed an excellent first day for the lads.

An excellent result in the sweltering heat today with 5 cats for Dean Howard’s Sombrero clad group of catfish anglers. The best fish of the day was an impressive 118lb ebro monster which was caught by Jed Salih and was a comfortable personal best, caught late evening. Other fish included a 67lber to Glen and 3 small one’s falling to Deano’s rod.

An awesome initiation on the Ebro for Mark Vincent on his first ever trip with www.ebro-catfishing.com. Within 30 minutes of starting Mark played in a 131lb fish hooked by his 12 year old son Harry. The session also ended on a high note, with Harry again hooking a huge catfish then passing the rod to his dad to play. This one was one of the best fights of the season and made an astonishing initial run approaching 100 yards! The fish battled for 20 minutes before being boated and weighing in at 132lb.

More fantastic July action on the Ebro at Amposta today as Martin Filer topped his Personal best by 1 pound with a hard fighting 132lber whilst fishing buddy Warren Haime capped off a superb day with a 121lber from one of the deep sections of the river. Overcast and stormy conditions saw the fish on the feed, along with the two monsters there were also fish of 71, 2 in the 30’s and an optimistic baby of 12lb!

A fantastic return to the river for the guides after a much needed week off, with Joe Green also getting in amongst the Ebro’s larger catfish, this time with a well deserved 124lber. Not quite a PB for Joe, who boated a magnificent 143lber with us last July.

A memorable first day on the Ebro for Rob Read, who within fifteen minutes of starting was hooked into a hard running 158lb catfish which took a full 20 minutes to subdue after a number of epic runs, at one stage attempting to take us into over hanging trees tight into the margin. Rob also managed an 89lb catfish later in the day, along with a kitten at 33lb.

A spectacular double hook-up was achieved by Andy Wiggins and Rowan Harper, with the fish weighing in at 129lb and 111lb respectively. Another highly successful trip for the guys who have bagged 100’s every year they have visited the ebro with www.ebro-catfishing.com

An impressive result for Rowan Harper who landed 4 cats, 16, 54, 119 and 94lbs, with the 94 certainly giving the scrap of the day. Fishing mate Andy Wiggins also managed a kitten at 39lb and there were many near misses as the cats actively chased live baits onto the surface on numerous occasions! Exciting stuff, even for the guides!
