Lower Ebro Catfishing…. Latest Catch Reports…. mid December 2012

A pre Christmas cracker for Jack Walker and Gaz Titchin over the past few days, with both of the guys returning to the UK with a three figure lower Ebro catfish to their name!

The holiday got off to a fantastic start with an absolute lunker of 173lb which took Jack’s mullet offering from a shallow margin location up stream of Amposta. The fish put up a long, dogged battle in the cool water conditions. Jack also hooked another whacker just an hour or so later but was unfortunate to pull out with the fish taking line.

A winter whacker for Jack

Conditions were favourable throughout the trip, with the water temperature settled at around 11 degrees and some pleasant winter weather. The cats were quite active throughout the sessions, but there was some frustrating fishing with numerous chases which were not developing into takes.

Fortunately everything fell into place on the final day with the fish seemingly more aggressive, and the boys enjoyed a real salvo with 4  cats boated, including 2 over the ton. Jack added a 105lber, whilst Gaz was delighted with cats of 77lb and 100lb. All catched have been on mullet, which are curently abundant in the river.
